As the Panthers were a little short of players, Giants Captain Thomas Druce volunteered to play for them.
Although all the boys put in their usual hard work and effort, this was really a performance of individuals. For most of the match, the boys didn't really play as a team and although we won, we nearly let Bluestar equalise.
There were a couple of times when the boys got their passing game going and if they had done this more often,we would have won by much more.
Apart from one scary moment in the second half, Bluestar didn't really threaten our goal and Dominic was a spectator for most of the game.
The Giants goal came from good work by Alex on the right wing leading to a cross which found Ben who smashed the ball home to give the Giants a 1-0 lead at half time,
Although the Giants had most of the possession, we never really found a cutting edge and we created few clear-cut chances in the second half. We just seemed to get bogged down in a very scrappy midfield battle.
The boys have played much better than this and lost against better teams. Luckily, we were not playing against a team able to take advantage. No doubting the effort put in by all the boys - especially Harry Horne, who just edged the Player of the Week ahead of Dan Marston.
