A match played in very cold conditions with a rock hard ball made good football difficult at Fog Lane on Saturday. Having dominated the play in the first half we finally took the lead when Jack Clare floated the ball in from a very narrow angle having received it from a short corner. The first period was a largely scrappy affair, with the lads learning how to take throw ins the hard way with an excellent referee penalising them if they didn’t. The ref was the best we have seen all seen this season.
In the second half the lads picked up their performance and passed the ball a lot better. George Phelan scoring twice in quick succession at the start of the half settled us down and he nearly had a four minute hat trick. At 3-0 up loads of player rotation took place with a lot of the lads having chances to increase the score. The two goals that did come were scored by Will Hodgson and Matt Salt. A good performance given the conditions. Well done lads.
Man of the Match: Sam O'Brien
Scorers: Clare, Phelan (2), Hodgson, Salt
