Stockport Dynamoes 5

Inter Maccs aim? To finish the season on a high and win the remaining game.
After just 30 seconds of the game there was controversy, with a the Stockport Dynamo forward putting the ball in the back of the net, but not before a foul on Joe. Straight away Stockport were clearly up for this game! Couple of minutes later Inter Macc go on the attack and following some good pressure are awarded a penalty. Yet once again Inter Maccs major weakness this season returns to haunt us as we fail to take our chance, as Owen put the penalty straight at the keeper. Despite this Inter Macc continued to try and play football with Oliver Andrews in brilliant battling form in the middle of the park. Although we played some decent football Stockport scored from a corner with a good header. Silly really because the warning signs were there from an earlier corner. From then on it seemed like an up hill battle, as the excellent forward for Stockport ran rings around our defence. Despite the goals that we have leaked this year Inter Macc have been one of the best defensive and organised units I Have witnessed and the goal difference does not represent a true reflection. The Inter Macc defence today were all over the place, with poor shape, communication and really lacking any real leadership or belief. Before half time we conceded again and were fortunate to be only 2 nil down at half time.
As the second half begun once again Stockport were on the front foot with the classy center forward pulling all the strings and causing all the problems. Within quick succession Inter Macc conceded two further goals to go 4 nil down. This was not the Inter Macc that battled at the start of the season and did not give up without a fight. With silly bickering on the field and heads going down far too easily, and really lacking any determination and will power to fight to the final whistle. Stockport scored again by which point other than 1 or 2 players the while team had given up and was feeling sorry for themselves. Final score 5 nil, to a team that we could have and should have battered earlier in the season.
This is not the way we wanted to finish the season, and the score line reflected a poor overall performance, with only Oliver Andrews really showing his worth, returning somewhere near the form from last season.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
