Red Beret 7
Ravens Youth FC 0

Ravens went into this game feeling confident and determined to win their last 4 games starting from today, Anyway we started very brightly and looking solid at the back, and piercing through the opposition defence time after time who couldnt cope with our movement, or creativity in the final 3rd, After a series of unbelievable misses particularly from Matt Hennessy who was missing chance after chance. Although we were missing these chances we were well on top and the red beret did not get anywhere near Grant "the masterpiece" Sadler. Just before half time though the red beret broke when we were on top and just as the beret were about to get there first shot on target he was tripped by Ollie Patterson who was having a good game, however the funniest thing about it is I was standing right next to the ref and could not see it because i was on the half way line and how the hell you can make a decision when you are so far away is outrageous. Anyway the penalty was well converted on the stroke of half time and we went in somehow 1-0 down at half time. After half time we felt that we could repeat the same first half performance but add a couple of finishes to it and we would be laughing all the way to the bank. However just after half time the referee failed to see Ross Evans pushed, in the most unbelievable decision i have ever seen and the Red Beret were clear and scored there 2nd goal, this goal really knocked the stuffing out of us and a 3rd and 4th soon followed. Heads were down and egos battered when Ollie Patterson decided that he had enough and walked of the pitch. This made us even more vulnerable and a 5th 6th and dare i say it a 7th soon followed, add to this that Agron who had been substituted and therefore had to run the line because we only had 12 players, which is a rule for all of us, whether you like it or not if we only have 12 players the 12th man will run the line end of story. Bizarrely he refused to run the line properly and when the referee went to book him for unsporting conduct he decided that the best action to take would be to start swearing at the ref get yourself a £40 fine and miss the rest of the season through suspension. Anyway the game finished 7-0 and we learnt the lesson that scoring at critical points is one of the most important things in a football match, when to keep it tight and when to go for it.
On another note with what happened throughout the 2nd half and after the game we have to stick together and fight as a team, whether we are winning losing or whatever, we all do it together regardless. If i score we all score, if we concede then i concede. For me playing football is about enjoying yourself, obviously it is more fun to win a game but the satisfaction of having gone into a battle and all stuck together is what we are all at Ravens for. Thats what seperates us aside from everyone else.
As far as im concerned Ollie and Agron are both very passionate players who lost there heads and let us all down as a team but a sincere apology from both players and a promise that it will not happen again is enough for me and it should be for everyone else. A wise man named Omni Sambrook the 3rd once said to me that if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem and as a team we must move on from this and turn our negative energy into positive energy and absolutely destroy Rivermead Reserves.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
