Ross's Report
Having selected the team for this week i couldn't help but grin and rub my hands at the prospect of playing in such a strong team. Although we had a shaky start to the game, going 1-0 down, we soon picked up the pace.
Young D. Wild had the game of his career, perhaps the prospect of playing for such a well established manager upped his game? Whatever it was he looked unstoppable, tricky up top and solid as a rock at the back, he worked his heart out for the team for the full 60 minutes. Talking of rocks at the back... Paul Hamer making another return for Ross's side has been a constant although the fans have not always understood why, today they found out. He marshalled the back and made sure that it would take something special from the opposition for them to score. Gaz between the sticks put on a jaw-dropping display and often had the opposition at a loss, wondering how they were going to beat this wall between the sticks. Distribution was at a premium, with Gaz finding a couple of assists from some develishly difficult to defend long throws. C. McDonald and R. Helsby worked hard in the middle of the park to make sure that service could be provided for the strikers and cover for the defenders. They managed to keep the ball and play a few clever passes forward and backward, as well as a few last ditch blocks to give the in-form Gaz a metaphorical hand. T. Cooney made a good start to his career although it was obvious he was fatigued from a game an hour previous. He still managed to show a few glamourous passes and should maybe have added a few more to his total. R. Warburton showed why he remains a fan favourite. Effective up top after a first half defensive showing, his runs ran the defenders ragged and his finishing was on form as ever.
The most impressive thing was not the individuals tonigh however, the team performance was the winnning key as every man worked as hard as the next to ensure that we walked away with an emphatic win. Simple passing and a great team bond proved unstoppable for the over-rated Provost tonight.
Heres a true reflection of the game
Provosts team look comfortable for 10 mins going 1 - 0 up, then we simply colapsed giving you four goals before you actually had to build and earn the other three., it was all about us not dealing with Ray and missing probably 20 chances of scoring.
We were shocking, your team were average, Ray was very good.
