The first attempt at 4 v 4 friendly games seemed to be a success, thanks to Queensgate for being the first team in the league to give it a go!
As for scorers and match winners i will bring out one the oldest cliche in the book: Football was the winner today!! Having had chance to watch only a limited amount of games (i was looking after one of the pitches) I saw children getting allot of touches of the ball and having the freedom to try new things. That is the point of small sided games, the children are allowed to experiment and be creative without having to worry about the repercussions of losing a game. It was good to see players who normally shy away from the ball taking control and being positive, these game will benefit the children in the long run.
I will be trying to organise some more small sided games against our tougher opponents in the league. However i am being met with some resistance from managers and coaches who believe it is all about winning still.
